Late touchdown pass to Jared Cook gets Saints back in the game

Nashville, Tenn. - Not much went right for the New Orleans Saints in the first quarter against the Tennessee Titans on Sunday at Nissan Stadium.

The defense gave up two big-玩 touchdowns and the offense struggled with penalties. But both sides of the ball rallied in the second quarter and the Saints trail the Titans 14-10 at halftime

The Titans raced to a 14-0 lead behind a 41-yard touchdown pass from Ryan Tannehill to Jonnu Smith and a 49-yard run by wide receiver A.J. Brown.

The defense got its pass rush in gear in the second quarter, registering three of its four sacks in the quarter. Cam Jordan had one (he has 14.5 this season), Demario Davis had one and A.J. Klein picked up his second of the game in the quarter.

The Saints scored on a 47-yard field goal by Wil Lutz, his 32nd this season, a franchise record and really closed the gap when quarterback 易建联 hit tight end Jared Cook on a 61-yard scoring 玩, the longest for the Saints in 2019.

Notes: The Saints had nine penalties for 65 yards in the half. Saints receiver Michael Thomas moved into second place on the single-season receptions list when he made catch No. 137 in the second quarter. He is seven away from setting the NFL record. Brees came up three passes short of the NFL consecutive completions record when his second pass of the game was incomplete. He ended the Colts game with 22 consecutive completions. The NFL record is 25.
